The Role

We are seeking an experienced and technically proficient Buildings Engineer – Civil to support an Infrastructure & Buildings project, based in Kuwait, which we are currently bidding as part of an Expression of Interest (EOI). This role involves technical supervision, site coordination, and quality assurance of all civil and structural elements related to building construction, ensuring compliance with project specifications, engineering codes, and health and safety standards.

The Buildings Engineer – Civil will collaborate with contractors, consultants, and project stakeholders to oversee the execution of foundations, superstructures, architectural finishes, and external works, ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Review civil and structural design drawings and specifications for compliance with project requirements and best practices.

Supervise and inspect civil works including excavation, concreting, rebar installation, formwork, masonry, waterproofing, and finishes.

Monitor site activities to ensure alignment with project timelines, safety regulations, and quality standards.

Evaluate and comment on contractor submittals such as shop drawings, method statements, and ITPs.

Attend site inspections, interface coordination meetings, and progress reviews.

Identify and resolve construction-related technical issues and design conflicts.

Support the preparation of snag lists, as-built drawings, and handover documentation.

Ensure works comply with applicable local regulations and international codes (e.g., ACI, BS, Eurocodes).

Key Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.

Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, preferably in a PMC or multidisciplinary consulting environment.

Proven experience with building construction projects, including concrete, steel, masonry, and finishes.

Strong understanding of site supervision practices, quality control procedures, and construction sequencing.

Familiarity with international codes and standards for civil / structural engineering.

Experience in port or marine-related infrastructure is preferable.

Key Knowledge and Skills

Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural drawings.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and common construction documentation tools.

Strong reporting, communication, and coordination skills.

High attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality compliance.

Proactive problem-solving mindset with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
