Purpose of the Function
The Construction Manager is responsible for all aspects of the construction of IKEA projects, from start to finish.
Purpose of the Job
The Construction Manager will provide technical and cost input to IKEA internal partners during the projects development / conceptual design phase. Other responsibilities include the permitting co-ordination, physical and cost aspects of the detailed design and construction phases of all projects.
Key assignments
Oversee and direct construction projects from initiation to completion. This includes design, tendering, supervision, hand-over and project closure
Review the project in-depth to schedule deliverables and estimate costs
Negotiate terms of agreements, draft contracts and obtain permits and licenses as and when required
Coordinate construction activities to meet contractual conditions of performance
Review the work progress on a regular basis and prepare internal and external reports pertaining to job status
Oversee all onsite and offsite constructions to monitor compliance with building and health and safety regulations
Secure quality assurance and control processes. Ensure quality construction standards and the use of proper construction techniques
Identify, monitor and control risks within the scope, manage dependencies and interfaces within the project and between the project and the line organizations
Maintain relations with internal and external parties involved in construction projects
Secure an environment where the IKEA culture is a strong and living reality
Knowledge
Significant experience, 5-10 years of working in construction on managerial level
At least BS degree in construction management, architecture, engineering or related field
Advanced knowledge of construction (management) software packages
Integrity and the ability to establish strong work relationships
Good analytical skills and cost consciousness
Excellent (construction) project management, organizational and co-ordination skills
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Excellent command of English, both spoken and written at business level
Competent in problem solving, conflict and crisis management
Motivation

Ideal Experience & Education
Significant experience, 5-10 years of working in construction on managerial level
At least BS degree in construction management, architecture, engineering or related field
Advanced knowledge of construction (management) software packages
Ability to manage complex projects and multi-task.
Excellent organizational skills.
Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
